Installation

The idea of sprinkler system installation can seem daunting and invasive at first

The reality of it is that the process is quite simple and very similar to how central heating is installed, but with far less pipework, and far less disruption with installation usually being completed within two main stages.

Stage 1 (1st Fix)

This stage involves the distribution of sprinkler pipework and the installation of sprinkler heads in accordance with the approved design drawings. This is followed by a pressure test to ensure the system is sound and secure. Sprinkler heads are then left with temporary protective caps in place to protect them during the continuing build process.

Stage 2 (2nd Fix)

This stage is carried out close to the build completion when ceilings are fitted, decoration works are complete and water supplies are in situ. The protective caps are removed from the sprinkler heads and replaced with decorative cover plates. Connection to the water source and subsequent commission tests are the final exercise in this stage.

What happens after installation?

Upon completion, a certificate of compliance is issued that confirms the system has been installed by an approved contractor using the appropriate design and installation standards. Certification is also accompanied by an Operation and Maintenance Manual that will assist the client with ongoing fire protection maintenance of the building.
